May 21st: OMU, Dinner, Hockey

As per usual every morning I wake up and start to get ready to make our way to campus. As usual my roommate and I headed to the train station, walked to our usual platform, and boarded the first train that arrived. However, today, in our morning haze, we failed to notice the train's route display. Instead of boarding the train bound for Nakamozu, which would take us directly to campus, we ended up on a train that only goes until station M26 four stops short of our destination at M30. Once at M26 we got off the train and waited for the next one that was headed to Nakamozu, once the train arrived we hoped in and we were on our way.

For class time it was no different than normal days. We started with COM 221, we work on Some class activities as also our proposal for our second assignment. After COM 221 we went to get lunch I don't remember the name of what I had but it tasted very similar to Pechuga a la Milanesa(Chicken Milanese).

After lunch me went back to take our SS 314 class, this time we had a presentation from the Satellite Department where they talk about the SSSRC(Small Spacecraft System Research Center), we learned a little about what they do and what they are currently working on. They had some pretty good activities, one of them was to create a presentation on how we can solve issues that the world needs to get solved.

Once this presentation was done we move onto our next activity witch was doing some Japanese calligraphy, in this activity we had our OMU buddy's join and do the activity with us and help guide us on the process of how to do the calligraphy. I learn how to write Puerto Rico in Hiragana since it was more simpler than doing it on Kanji.

Now that all the OMU activities have come to an end we had to rush to get to the station because our OMU buddy made a reservation for us at a restaurant to get dinner and the place was near Namba station and we where a little short on time( we got there 15 minutes after our reservation :) ). We arrived at Ikkaku Shinsaibashi and Sayu (Our OMU Buddy) order for us since she wanted that we tried everything, especially the chicken since it's the restaurant main dish. All I gotta say for this is that the food here was delicious, I'm definitely returning to get more chicken. Sayu invited us to OMU hockey game, so once we finish eating we started walking to the ice ring since the game was about 15 minutes away from the restaurant and 5 minutes from our hotel. We did a little stop by Dotombori.

We got to the hockey game where OMU was playing against Momoyama, and of course OMU was home team. The game started at 9pm and by 10:20pm it was over. The final score was 8-0! OMU won!!!

June 2nd: The Fourth Floor Doctor

It was a cool Sunday night in summer. Rain was gently sprinkling on my hotel window while I lay in bed, stricken with illness. It was quarter past seven when I heard a knock at my door. Nicholas, my roommate, leaped up and answered immediately. It was Dr. T, the head professor for our study abroad in Japan program. He had come to take me to the doctor.  I had felt quite ill in the days leading up to this point. I was sneezing left and right, and my throat was drier than a desert. However, my symptoms were initially relatively tame, so I attributed them to allergies. Sunday was different, though. I had a fever, I couldn't stop coughing, and I felt extremely weak. I was getting worse, and I had to do something. "The last check-in is at 7:30," Dr. T told Nicholas. I was running out of time. I had to hurry. I jumped out of bed, threw some baggy clothes on, tossed my passport, wallet, and pocket wifi into a backpack, and dashed out the door. I met Dr. T in the elevator, and we...

May 25: Festival and Karaoke

May 25th was the day of the Yukosai Festival at OMU Nakamozu. A lot of us met up at the main gate with a few of the OMU Buddies, and then split up into smaller groups and began to walk around. It was very interesting to see how much was going on at the festival. Right past the entrance was a little flea market where many of the local residents had set up tents selling their old clothes and other belongings. Past that area was a lot of student run activities and stalls. The first thing past the flea market was a stage where many performances were held at. One of which was a koto performance by the Japanese Music Club that we got to meet previously on May 16th. A lot of us watched that performance and it was very good. The main walkway had many student run food stalls. There was a wide selection of food including many things like shaved ice, karaage, takoyaki, and many other options. There were many other activities and performances you could find around. Inside one of the buildings...
